Silvercoast are a band that formed in 2012, and are a five piece band, made up of Aaron Murray, Mike Cappie, Aly Mack, Kyle Mack and Andy Thomas. They’ve got plenty of experience of playing gigs, having played their first gig in Inverness just under 6 years ago. It’s easy to understand that the band are influenced by acts like Angels and Airwaves, Feeder, as well as Twin Atlantic when you listen to their music, it’s Alternative Rock at its best for sure.
My thanks go to Aaron for helping put this article together, let me know if you like it!

Questions
How did the band form?
At the end of 2012, I had recently exited from a band that wasn’t going anywhere. I had been writing demos for some time and thought it was time to search for someone to jam with. I came across our drummer Mike on Gumtree, met up for one of our first jams on New Year’s Day 2013. From there, we recruited Andy, our guitarist and long-time friend of Mike.
We went through a bit of a lineup change with former bassist Jason leaving to pursue a heavier musical direction. Aly our new bassist has slotted in brilliantly and we also took on Kyle as another guitarist.
Best gig that you’ve played?
Hands down the biggest and best gig we have played was when we supported Feeder at the Barrowlands, Glasgow. What made it even more special is that Feeder got me into music and my first ever concert I attended was seeing them play Barrowlands with Hell is for Heroes as support.
To support an idol was a dream come true.
Upcoming gigs?
We should possibly have some festivals lined up this year as well as a show we are very much looking forward to in August in Stornoway.
What influences are in the band’s music?
From the beginning I would have said Feeder were my main influence and I think you can hear that from the earlier songs but until recently with the new additions to the band I’d say we have more of an alt rock meshed with pop punk vibe. The new songs we’ve been creating are quite different to what we had before.
Best memory so far?
There are far too many to list but I’d say for me it was sound check at the Feeder show and I hear someone say “Nice guitar”. I look up and it was Grant from Feeder. First time meeting him and I get a compliment so yeah that was a proper cheeser moment haha!
Is there anything you’d change if you had the chance to?
I would have discovered the Dunfermline Hoagie faster than I did! Have you ever tried one? Absolutely delicious but so bad for you at the same time. Try one!!
Long term goals?
Having built an amazing fan base and touring all over the world! Getting signed to a good label would be awesome but a proper loyal fan base is more important to us. It’s those guys who keep our dreams alive!
